Robbie Fielding nails first Baitcraft fifty of the year

Our good mate Robbie Fielding has just checked in with some awesome news of a new personal best and the first Baitcraft caught UK fifty ponder of the year in the shape of Essex Manor Farm lakes biggest and most famous resident, the stunning Northern Linear at a whopping 53lb 2oz.

Check out Robbie’s great report:

‘I restarted my campaign on the Manor in March this year. I was fishing a couple of over nighters a week whilst keeping the Super K carp bait range going in and found myself struggling to get a bite as a couple of fish started to come out to other anglers. Towards the end of March on around my tenth overnighter and nothing to show for my efforts, I went onto zigs as it started to warm up. I was in the Rope swim when the right hand rod ripped off and I picked up the rod and started battle with a large fish on 10 lb line. Mark Stubbles came over and offered to land the beast after a dogged fight and we managed to net the fish. We both straight away recognised her as the Northern Linear, I ran to my bivvy to grab my scales when Mark said to me “Rob she is foul hooked in the front peck” To say I was gutted, was an understatement…So we returned her, no pictures, no weight and no fish, but a promise to myself that I would have her again fair and square.

I managed a couple more nights and it started to get busy so I pulled off for a month or so. I started back there a week or so into May and managed another three overnighters. On Monday 14th May I returned and nothing was showing, so I set up in the steps which is in the center of the lake. As good a place as any I thought, But at around 10 pm fish starting showing next door in the Rope swim one after the other. The temptation was to much so I packed up and moved into the Rope. The problem that I was now faced with was that if I started casting around the fish would have done the off and my chances would have been shattered.

With this in mind I waited and hour and watched the water to see where the fish were showing the most. I changed my leads down to small to 1 1/2 oz and flicked the right hand rod up along the Rope to the area where fish were showing. It landed in soft silt and light silk weed. I wasn’t to keen but that’s where they were showing. Now for the next half hour I catapulted 50 Super K boilies one at a time so I didn’t spook the fish in the area and then I flicked the other two out with singles cast in the rings of showing fish on other spots I had fished before and then flicked out some more baits one at a time.

I got my head down confident my left or middle rod was going to burst into life but at four thirty am my right hand rod, the same rod that had foul hooked the Northern Linear was in melt down and line was peeling from the reel and my Neville was screaming. I ran down armed with one shoe and half my eye site and bent into the fish which had other ideas and just kept peeling line off. At first I thought I was into one of the Manors monster catfish but after a short while I woke up and realised what was going on and I could feel an angry carp holding deep and taking line when ever it wanted. I started butting the fish trying to get it to rise in the water and after fifteen mins she starting to tire and I got her back to the ledge only for her to scream off again. I got her back for the second time and netted her first time.

I never thought anything of it as it was dark still and just starting to get light. I grabbed my scales and my mat and opened the net and realised I had the Northern “again” on my right hand rod but nailed in the bottom lip…buzzing was not the word. I weighed her at 53.02 lb a new UK PB and Metal Mickey (Michael Dickson) Done the honours with the camera she was returned. The Super K doing the biz again!’

WOW! It’s getting a little repetitive of late but yet another beast tripped up on the awesome big fish selective Super K boilie range. Well done to Robbie, congratulations on your new PB mate and thanks for the report!

Another big haul for Mike Lee

Baitcraft regular Mike Lee has enjoyed another carp filled session recently and kindly sent us news of his latest haul:

‘Following on from lasts weeks eight fish hit, I returned to the flooded Northants gravel pit for another 48 hour session. I managed six carp this time with weights ranging from 17lb to 36lb. The big common fell to a UK Tactical Super K pop-up hook bait glugged in K Cola cast to an area where fish were chasing around during a big mayfly hatch.

Around half a kilo of bait was introduced per fish and the fish came at regular intervals during the session. Super K is an amazing bait and as I keep saying - The more you put in, the better it gets!’

29lb 8oz

24lb 8oz

There we have it, another top result for Mike in the Nene Valley and yet another Super K caught beast. Well done mate, big thanks and keep em’ coming!!

If you are not using this carp bait its costing you carp….simples! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MqrkNY5ATE

Baitcraft Halo boilies certainly came up trumps for customer Ross Mannion when he slipped the net under his first ever UK thirty in the shape of this 31lb Colne Valley mirror.

Sixteen year old Ross used a single 15mm Halo hook bait on a short blowback rig inside a PVA bag full of crushed and halved Halo boiles which he cast at around thirty yards range towards signs of fish moving in a weed bed.

Great result for young Ross and hopefully plenty more to come! Well done to Ross and thanks for the report from us all here at Baitcraft.

Dreamlakes holiday PB for Colin

This giant 75lb 4oz personal best common was landed on a recent holiday trip from lake three on the Dreamlakes complex by Baitcraft customer Colin Mould.

Here is what Colin had to tell us:

After seeing two fish roll close to over hanging trees at the end of the lake I set about some work with the marker float. I located a hard area of gravel/ light silt between two weed beds in front of the neighbouring swim at forty five yards and decided to fish it from my swim to change the usual line angle.

I used the spomb to put out approximately sixty Baitcraft T1 boilies per fish and had all my sixteen fish from this area with five forties to forty six before having a violent take mid afternoon on my last day.
The battle was awesome and bought to the net using 3.25tc rods and 15lb line. The rig was ten inches of coated braid with a longshank size 6 hook presenting the UK Tactical T1 hook bait snowman style on a blow back rig.’

Colin used just seven kilos of T1 boilies all week proving once again that big carp love quality carp bait over quantity. Well done to Colin and thanks for the report mate.

Got a holiday trip booked this year? Then look no further than the awesome T1 boilie range. Check it out on Baitcraft TV now!

Baitcraft regular Brian Willows had just checked in with more great news of another capture from his undisclosed syndicate lake in the form of this stunning 33lb 7oz mirror.

Brian had this to tell us;

‘I caught the big mirror from a little marginal swim which I had been priming up with Baitcraft Super K carp pellets and Super K boilies for the previous three weeks. There were twelve other anglers on when I turned up at the lake so it was pretty stitched up to say the least.

I could see the marginal shelf had signs of recent feeding activity so I ended up dropping in there for the night and opted to fish just one rod and that was all that was needed to produce the bite.’

Brian opted for an inline 2oz flat pear fished drop off style with a three inch ESP braided hooklink and a size 5 ESP Curve Shanx hook to which he attached a 15mm UK Tactical Super K wafter hook bait. Once again the Super K carp bait range producing the goods for another happy customer and Brian is well and truly on a roll. Well done To Brian from us all here at Baitcraft.

This lovely 43lb 2oz mirror was recently landed by Phil Calloway during a weekend session on the Grenville syndicate.

Phil fished into a very strong head wind again at approx 120 yards and introduced just a couple of spombs full of Baitcraft Super K boilies and matching carp pellets fished on a plateau. Over this Phil presented a snowman setup using a Super K boilie topped off with a UK Tactical Little Fella Juicy Fruit pop up hook bait to produce the only carp of the weekend from a group of nineteen anglers. Great result for Phil and another forty tripped up on the in form Super K carp bait range. Well done mate and thanks for the news!

More Grenville biggies fall to Dan Phesay

Good friend of Baitcraft Dan Phesay had a nice result recently when he accompanied Baitcraft boss Mark McKenna on a four day session at Grenville Lake filming for Baitcraft TV. Grenville member Dan continued his run of good form in 2012 bagging mirrors of 26lb 2oz and these two chunks which tipped the scales at 30lb 2oz and 36lb 2oz respectively.

Dan snared all of his fish over five kilos of of Baitcraft Super K 18mm boilies which he spread at 130 yards range and presented a matching UK Tactical 15mm Super K pop up hook bait six inches off the bottom. The Super K carp bait range doing the business again for Dan and live for the cameras too! Well done to Dan and big thanks for the report.

‘I’ve finally managed to stick a hook in one of the better fish at one of the big, rock hard lakes that I’m fishing. The stresses involved in fishing the place are huge, but it’s all forgotten when you finally get one in the net, especially one such as this lovely bullet of a common that weighed in at just over 28lb. The fish was caught on a cut up Baitcraft Halo boilie hook bait, fished over a bed of chops and the corresponding carp pellets. That night was electric, with fish rolling over my spot, and I had that gut feeling that something just had to happen. I only had the one rod out, as the swim was pretty tight, and it involved being sat patiently on an unhooking mat in the rain, in a leaky pair of chest waders! Not the most comfortable set up I can assure you, however, I was only there for an hour or so before the bobbin pulled up tight and the tip nodded away. After a pretty hairy fight, with the fish diving towards snags several times, I finally scooped her up and when I looked down at her immense length, all those uncomfortable blank nights seemed to disappear…’

Great angling there from Matt on a venue where any fish is a massive result. Something tells us its only a matter of time before we hear from our man again with news of something very special. Big thanks to Matt for the update and well done mate.

Once again our good mate Mark Stubbles has nailed another biggun from the famed Essex Manor Farm lake in the shape of this beautiful, scaley 38lb 2oz mirror.

‘I turned up at the lake after work on Friday afternoon and after a quick look around I decided to go into the Garden swim as this was the nearest swim to where I had seen a fish show.

I cast out three of my favorite bottom bait rigs each baited with a Baitcraft 15mm UK Tactical Super K hardened hook bait and then baited the area with around 1kg of Super K boilies over each rod just before dark. I didn’t have to wait too long as at 2.30am I had a powerful take on my middle rod which resulted in this hard fighting mirror.’

Another great result for our man on the well known big fish venue and yet another whacker taking a liking to the Super K boilie range. Well done mate, big thanks and we look forward to the next one.

Ladies carp world record smashed on Baitcraft T1. Congratulations Jo Green!

Good friend of Baitcraft and top level female carp angler Jo Green has just returned from a week long session at Les Graviers in France with news of the famous venue producing yet another world record carp which has yet again fallen to the legendary Baitcraft T1 boilie. Check out Jo’s much anticipated report here first:

‘After a very wet drive down we arrived at the lake just after 1pm. The weather broke for a while and the sun came out so we sat and had a cuppa with lake owner Luke and a chat about which fish had been out recently. The Brown Fish was the first to be mentioned and had been out two weeks ago, so laughing we all ruled out catching that one. None of the other biggies i.e the Bulldog, Inflatable and the Scar had been out though.

After an hour or so we went on our way to set up. My partner Mike and I were on the point and as we started unloading the van the heavens opened so that was abandoned and we sat in the hut making up rigs while it passed, which took a good two hours and eventually the sun shone again. We then set about getting all the rods out and eventually by dark we were all set up and ready to go. The kettle was on ready for a brew. The first run came at 7am the next morning and Mike landed a pretty mirror of 22lb 6oz and a further two fish graced the bank that morning a 30lb 4oz and a 38lb. Three on the first day was a nice result.

Later in the evening we got the rods re-done with fresh bait and sat back wandering if any more fish might come our way, little did we know what was about to happen. At 4am Monday morning I had an absolute screamer. I flew out of the bivvy and hit into what felt like a lump after and a mammoth battle against the fish 40 minutes later she went over the cord at last it was in the net. We both looked into the net and it soon became apparent it was one of the biggies. I rang one of the other lads (another Mike) fishing down the other end to come up and have a look, not even thinking it might be the Brown Fish has she had been out recently. We decided it might be the inflatable so I then rang Luke tolet him know we had one of the biggies in the net. As with all fish over 60lb Luke comes round with his scales to weigh the fish. As soon as he arrived he looked in the net and it was soon identified as the Brown Fish! I couldn’t believe it, only 36 hours in and I had banked the Brown Fish. We got on with the weighing she weighed a colossal 84lbs a mere 6lb lighter than me. Then it was time for the photo’s, I was thinking how on earth am I going to lift this fish?! Photos completed and I let her go back to her watery home.

Words cannot describe how I felt at that point and it took days to sink in. It was to be three days before I even touched a rod again. Mike had banked three forties to 48lb 3oz and a 62lb 3oz carp while I was coming to terms with what had happened. The weather had started to deteriorate again heavy rain and gale force winds but it did not stop the fish, they just kept coming and we were up to fifteen fish by 11pm Wednesday night.

Thursday produced a 40lb 4oz and a 32lb 7oz for me and Mike had his second sixty at 62lb and a 22lb mirror.

Then at 8am Friday morning I had single bleep and the line went tight, hitting into it I thought this is quite a lump. Half an hour later she slipped over the cord and she weighed in at 61lb 8oz.

On the final morning i finished with a 31lb mirror. We finished on 22 fish and they all came on Baitcraft T1 boilies and a UK Tactical T1 hook bait.

To sum it up it was an unbelievable weeks fishing and one I will never ever forget. It will stay with me forever.’

So there we have it. Three sixties banked for Jo and Mike and the colossal Brown Fish at a whopping 84lbs. This capture smashed the previous world record for a carp caught by a lady angler by nearly 8lbs. Great angling from Jo and Mike at Les Graviers - what a week!

Congratulations to Jo and a massive thanks for the report and snaps from everyone here at the home of fresh bait.
