| First session on a new water and a new PB 25th-May-09 |
| |
This was my first session on my new water this year and having contemplated giving up carp fishing recently i decided to have a weekend out on the bank. The water i fish is a very busy water and sees alot of angling pressure most days of the week. I also found out that a few of the people who fish on there are all on the same bait thus making my task alot harder well so i thought. After getting to the lake on the thursday evening i noticed that the lake was rammed i was gutted so i dropped in the double swim nearest the car park as the missus was joining me on the friday and i knew she would want a bit of space to fish. The double swim is not used much but it gives you alot of water to go at so it seemed an ideal starting point. After getting the rods out and having a beer i sat back and watched the water and was left defalated after seeing no signs what so ever so i had an early night and had a think. No action on the thursday night and after losing a couple on the friday i changed my rigs and got my serious hat on. I knew the lake held some big fish and the fish the regulars wanted was the big ghostie known to go around the 25lb mark. hilst having some lunch with the missus she noticed a big carp crash out in the middle of the lake so feeling motivated i chucked out a small bag of chopped special k baits and a single 'k' hookbait it landed right on the money i was buzzing! So i decided to sit back and relax then the alrm let out an almighty scream and i was in after about 10 minutes of casting out. The fish put up a very good fight and after about 20minutes i got a first glimpse of her, the immediate thing i noticed was the bright colour of her back i knew i had a ghostie but which one? A guy next to me came to see what was going on and helped with the net, i knew it was a good fish but it wasnt until he said "Mate you will have to help lift the net i cant do it on my own" that i realised that this may be something special. After zeroing the scales i got her in the sling and weighed her and the fish known as 'Parrot' had a new weight of 29lb 2oz and she hasnt been out in over a year and to boot it smashed my pb by 5lb!
RESULT. And to think i nearly gave up fishing
Now the fish were on the bait i had two further carp of 12lb and 17lb and the only other fish out over the weekend was 3 bream.
HAPPY DAYS! Just like to say a massive thank you to mark and i now am going to fill my freezer as there is 3 more 30lb+ fish to have and the 2nd lake holds a bit more mystery but im sure the 'K' will soon sort that for me! |
